The creative curriculum network is in embryo, but has defined its interests as:
- Teacher Skills development in creative pedagogy
- Using ‘Creativity’ to raise standards of achievement
- Rose Review implications
- Creativity for engagement in the Foundation Subjects
- Expanding practices in a cross-curricular framework (especially in maths/numeracy)
- Exploring how Creativity sits alongside ‘Standards’ straight jackets
- Singularity of subjects and time percentage issues
Colleagues will be constructing networked activities when all schools have had a chance to submit their interests in the network’s focus. Currently Luke Abbott is the lead person from Redbridge LA in the interim until the co-leaders meet later in March.
Network Members Definition of Creativity:
- Creativity is a curriculum that begins with the pupil. It motivates, excites and engages them, and develops their thinking and enquiry in a holistic way that is relevant to their lives either for the present or future.
- To develop and apply the appropriate skills and attitudes that will equip our children to take their place as future citizens of the twenty first century, allowing both learners and facilitators the ability to develop their talents and expand their learning beyond the classroom. They will have the ability to reflect on their learning, respect others, relate their learning to real life experiences, make choices and take risks, be resilient and enjoy and celebrate their achievements.
- Creative curriculum allows children to achieve and enjoy whilst inspiring them to think and colloborate successfully in the 21st Century.
